KENNY VS. SPENNY: THE FINAL CHALLENGE

After six seasons, 87 episodes and 87 challenges, Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice reunite for a final showdown of (minimal) intelligence, (a complete absence of) integrity and (non-existent) agility in the Kenny vs. Spenny Christmas Special, airing December 23, 2010 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showcase.

The hour-long series finale follows the adversaries as they set out to make a Christmas-themed variety show. With the best of intentions, Spenny is determined to make a feel-good family holiday special but is blindsided by Kenny who seizes another opportunity to make Spenny’s life a living hell. The adult-aged delinquents attempt to throw a puppet show, remake the Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol and execute a holiday-themed challenge of epic proportions.

Fans sad to see the duo split have nothing to fear, both Kenny and Spenny return to Showcase this Spring and Summer with solo projects Single White Spenny and Kenny Hotz’s -Triumph of the Will.

“I'm tired of winning, beating Spenny was way too easy. My new show is going to make Kenny vs. Spenny look like Antiques Roadshow. Fasten your safety belts kids...and thank god for Showcase!” said Kenny Hotz.

"Kenny vs. Spenny was a total nightmare for me both physically and emotionally. The fact that it made people laugh makes it somewhat worthwhile,” said Spencer Rice. “I'm looking forward to my new show and hope that I can get just as many laughs without having to be covered with as many horrendous bodily fluids."

A First Look at Karl Urban as Judge Dredd

While there's already a lot of excitement for all the superhero movies coming out in 2011, one project that has remained relatively low-key is the return of 2000 AD star Judge Dredd in the Pete (Vantage Point) Travis-directed Dredd, starring Karl Urban as Mega City One's brutal enforcer. The 3D movie is about to start production with Lionsgate planning to release it once it's done.
Artist Jock, who has drawn Judge Dredd in the comics as well as being the concept artist for the movie, shared the picture below which gives us our first look at Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, helmet and all, from rehearsals.

More Details on Batman Live

The recently announced "Batman Live" stage show is gearing up for its British launch in summer 2011 with plans for shows in North America by mid-2012. Now, the Manchester Evening News has updates on what fans can expect when the caped crusader takes to the stage.

Launching July 20th, 2011, "Batman Live" will premiere at the M.E.N. Arena and is said to feature quite a few members of Batman's rouges gallery, combined with "aerial acrobatics, martial arts [and] stunning special effects".

The story is said to focus on Dick Grayson's origin, as he finds himself adopted by Bruce Wayne and fighting at Batman's side as Robin. Guaranteed appearances include Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler and the Batmobile.

Nick Grace, responsible for the stage show "Walking With Dinosaurs", promises that the performance will not be a musical and that the narrative is, in fact, light on dialogue all around. As for the overall tone, he notes his intention to have a family friendly iteration of the character while maintaining Batman's famously darker elements.

Description of the set design includes mention of a 130ft video monitor that will play both set backdrops and narrative animation, while a runway stage will jutt out into the audience.

Tickets for the UK and The Republic of Ireland will go on sale on Friday 12th November 2010. For more information visit BatmanLive.com.

del Toro And Eick Finalizing Deal For 'The Hulk' TV Series

Guillermo del Toro and David Eick are finalizing a deal to create the new TV series version of "The Hulk" for ABC, which is being produced by Marvel TV and ABC Studios.

Marking this del Toro's first TV project, the series will follow physicist Bruce Banner, who will be in his mid-twenties, less reactive and more energized as the world is still his oyster. As for the role of The Hulk, current talks of a mixture of prosthetics, puppetry and CGI combined to create the alter-ego of Banner. Del Toro will also oversee the designing of the Hulk character, which is expected to draw on previous comic books as well as the original Incredible Hulk TV series, with a few wild tweaks on the old look.

Marvel is looking to launch the series following the July 2012 release of The Avengers, which includes the Hulk character, so the series will probably be targeted for fall 2012.

Ruffalo on The Hulk in The Avengers

IGN: I know you're still preparing for the role and things can change, but how do you even go about playing repressed rage without seeming too muted? It's a tough challenge.

Ruffalo: Rage is an intense thing. It's big, it's huge. It's your whole body, and so I'm not going to compare myself to any other Hulks. I just know that I want that rage to be as real as possible. I want that when he goes off that you feel it in me. That it happens to me first and then it becomes Hulk. I don't think it's simultaneous. It's interesting. It takes some people quite a bit to get to rage.

IGN: You don't strike me as angry guy. You seem pretty chill and likable. Is it going to be tough for you to find that rage?

Ruffalo: No. (laughs) If you knew me as a younger actor -- or even in What Doesn't Kill You that guy's able to access rage and he dragged that guy out of his car. I've heard some of the fans and I totally respect them and I hear their concern about Mark Ruffalo being a nice guy, but I assure you just like everybody else I have my very dark side. Maybe more because I'm an actor. That's not what I'm really worried about. What I'm worried about is bringing some spark of originality and spontaneity to that character. He's the only one who doesn't want to be there [in the Avengers] really. Everyone else is sort of digging on their super powers and he's the only one who doesn't want to be there, which could be an incredibly uninteresting person to spend two hours with. (laughs)

Marvel Announces Death of Spider-Man

Marvel is proud to announce Death of Spider-Man, the groundbreaking new story that forever changes the Ultimate Comics universe from superstar writers Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Millar. Kicking off with a prelude in Ultimate Spider-Man #153 and going into high-gear with Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates #1, this is the story that no comic fan can afford to miss when it all begins in February 2011 because, in the Ultimate Universe, There Are No Rules. This storyline continues in further issues of both Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates.

“As a group and as individuals we have made a conscious effort to create stories this year that no one has ever seen before,” said Bendis. “I am very, very proud to be a part of this storyline and very proud of Marvel for even attempting such a bold endeavor. Sit back and watch as we unveil a storyline unlike any other!!”

The most successful new imprint of the century, Ultimate Comics has continually pushed the limits of super hero comics and raised the bar for comic book storytelling, with Ultimate Spider-Man Vol.1 selling well over one million copies.

Millar added, “This is the biggest, boldest thing we've attempted in the ten years since we kicked this line off. This is the one thing that could be bigger than the CREATION of the Ultimate line and it's great to be a part of it. Being part of something like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and soon you’ll all get to read the story we’ve written for you, This should be up there with the very small number of events that really mattered. This is going to be big.”

This February, Death of Spider-Man marks the most ambitious Ultimate comics story yet…and one that no fan will ever forget!

Will the Thor Trailer be with TRON: Legacy?

In what can only be chalked up as a rumor right now, SuperHeroHype has received word that the very first teaser trailer for Marvel Studios' Thor, starring Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman, may be showing up in front of Disney's TRON: Legacy when it opens on December 17.
It makes some sense being that we've yet to see a theatrical trailer for Thor following the premiere of footage at this year's Comic-Con International, and it's going to be the kick-off movie for the summer of 2011. (The first teaser for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's own summer superhero offering Green Lantern will be premiering in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 on Friday, November 19.) Both movies are in 3D and some might remember that Disney bought Marvel in December of 2009 and they have a stake in the success of Thor even if it's being distributed and marketed by Paramount Pictures. After all, the character will be appearing in Marvel's 2012 release The Avengers, which will be released by Disney.

While neither Paramount nor Marvel nor Disney were able to confirm or deny our findings, we're hoping that this rumor proves to be true, and we're still working on a few other sources to try and get confirmation, knowing full well that everyone involved with the project is likely to be sworn to secrecy.

If a teaser trailer does emerge, it will be interesting to see what part of the footage from Comic-Con may be included in it.

The Teaser Poster for Cowboys & Aliens

1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

The Wolverine, will not be a sequel to the Gavin Hood-directed X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Director Darren Aronofsky revealed the title on Saturday for the new Wolverine movie starring Hugh Jackman. The movie, to be titled The Wolverine, will not be a sequel to the Gavin Hood-directed X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Aronofsky told HitFix that The Wolverine will be a "one-off," or standalone project. The script, written by Christopher McQuarrie, involves Logan beginning a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won't take "no" for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers.

A release date has not been set yet for the film.

Disney Planning One More Marvel Series

Disney president and chief executive offer Bob Iger told The Wall Street Journal that three Marvel properties are being adapted for the small screen:
WSJ: In the past year-plus you've made two splashy acquisitions: Marvel and Playdom. How are the integrations of those two companies progressing?

Mr. Iger: [With Marvel] we've taken back distribution, or bought back distribution from [Viacom Inc.'s] Paramount, for some critical franchises. Steve Pink, the man behind Hot Tub Time Machine, has come aboard the remake of The Toxic Avenger, reports Deadline. Pink will not only direct but will, alongside, Daniel C. Mitchell, provide the script.
The original film was set in Tromaville, New Jersey - a small American town, terrorized by criminals. Among the residents of Tromaville is Melvin, a nerdy emaciated janitor at the local health club. A gang of thugs devise a cruel hoax that goes horribly wrong as Melvin is cast through a third story window into a vat of hazardous toxic waste. However, an unexpected metamorphosis takes place. As the chemicals take hold of his body, Melvin turns into the Toxic Avenger, doer of good, and brutal mauler of evil.

the Superman Returns Sequel That Never Was

Last week, behind-the-scenes images finally surfaced of the Superman Lives costume for the defunct Tim Burton film. Now, glance further into the alternate universe of Superman films that never were as Michael Dougherty reveals (courtesy of Moviehole) what would have happened in his proposed sequel to 2006's Superman Returns.

Promising first and foremost that the sequel would have been action heavy, Dougherty explained that it would have revolved around a group of Kryptonians who come to Earth and, while they wouldn't have been outright evil a la General Zod, they would have challenged Superman's views of his role on Earth.

"Brainiac was always intersting," Dougherty also teased, regarding what classic Superman villains he would have included in the screenplay.

The Trick 'r Treat director also offered some hope for fans who would like to see Brandon Routh again don the cape and tights, though admits that he doesn't have any specific insider knowledge.

“I’m sure they’ll talk," he said, referring to the upcoming Warner Bros. production, "... at least I’d like to think so”.

Sally Field is in early talks to play Aunt May in the new Spider-Man movie.

THR is reporting that Sally Field is in early talks to play Aunt May in the new Spider-Man movie.

In the comics, Peter Parker only family was Aunt May after his Uncle Ben was killed. We reported earlier that Martin Sheen is in talks for the role of Uncle Ben. In addition to Sheen, the new movie being directed by Marc Webb, begins shooting in December, has Andrew Garfield as Peter, Emma Stone as love interest Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as the movie’s unnamed villain.

James Bond Will Return

Our long national nightmare may soon be over. As part of their bankruptcy filing yesterday, MGM has established its plans for the future of its crown gem, the James Bond franchise.

Bloomberg reports that new Bond films "may be released every second year starting in November 2012, MGM said. It aims to own 50 percent of Bond 23, due out that year, with an equal partner paying all of the production costs, it said. Later Bond movies would be wholly owned and funded by MGM, the company said."

No word yet on who that "equal partner" on Bond 23 will be.

One of the issues facing the delayed Bond 23 was the increasingly crowded schedule of star Daniel Craig. He's currently filming The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and must then segue to do reshoots on the now delayed Dream House.

Craig will then be promoting Cowboys & Aliens throughout next summer, so it would appear that fall 2011 would be the earliest he could slip back into 007's tuxedo to start filming Bond 23.

Tron Animated Series Announced

Tron is making the leap to TV. With the release of Tron: Legacy a few weeks away, Variety reports that Disney is producing a new animated series, Tron: Uprising, which will premiere Summer 2012.

Airing on Disney XD, the series will be executive produced and directed by Charlie Bean (Samurai Jack). The voice cast will include Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens and Lance Henriksen, with Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role from the films as Tron.

Tron: Uprising will be proceeded by a previously announced Disney XD 10-episode Tron "microseries", airing fall 2011.

Disney XD has also ordered the new live-action comedy Wasabi Warriors, described by Variety as being about, "a ragtag group of kids at the worst martial arts studio in the country."

Product Backstory
Successful fashion designer and millionaire Roderick Kingsley had built his empire through underworld ties and unethical practices. When one of his criminal associates, George Hill, stumbled upon an old secret lair of the Green Goblin villain, presumed dead, he relayed this information to Kingsley, who killed Hill to ensure the secret would be kept. Reading through the journals of the original Green Goblin, Norman Osborn begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlighting, and examining his paraphernalia and weaponry, Kingsley found himself enthralled with the idea of becoming a costumed criminal. Forging a new alter ego, Kingsley created a costume and donned the persona of the Hobgoblin.

Within the pages of Norman Osborn's journals, Kingsley found valuable information, which he intended to use in blackmailing several key figures, including Osborn's son Harry and newsman J. Jonah Jameson. Inevitably, this drew him into conflict with Spider-Man, whom Kingsley saw as merely an afterthought and a nuisance. But when the web-slinger bested him several times, Kingsley became obsessed with beating Spider-Man and set out to reproduce Osborn's original strength enhancing formula.

In an attempt to avoid suffering the formula-induced insanity that plagued Norman Osborn begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlighting, Kingsley decided to test it on small-time thug Arnold "Lefty" Donovan. Kingsley sent the formula-enhanced Lefty after Spider-Man, monitoring the thug's vitals from afar to check for abnormalities, but Spidey defeated him handily. In the hold of the web-slinger, Lefty threatened to compromise the real Hobgoblin's identity, so Kingsley remotely controlled the goblin glider to crash, killing the thug before Spider-Man could extract any information. Believing the test a success, Kingsley underwent the formula treatment and emerged with strength that surpassed even the original Green Goblin.
